New Grey’s Anatomy Season 14 Will Address Something In A Very Interesting Way

Recently, the folks over at TV Line got to chat up one of Grey’s Anatomy’s executive producers Debbie Allen and she revealed another interesting storyline teaser that will be featured in the show’s big two-hour premiere.

It has to do with character Arizona Robbins played by actress Jessica Capshaw (above right). It turns out that we’re going to see her split up with character Eliza Minnick get addressed at some point even though Eliza will be nowhere in sight.

As previously reported, Eliza’s portrayer Marika Dominczyk (above left) is not returning to the show. This had been speculated when Eliza was abruptly fired by Bailey in the show’s season 13 finale episode. In Eliza’s final scene, she told a shocked Arizona that she had been fired. However, they never did show Arizona and Eliza officially break up.

In the big season 14 premiere, Debbie Allen confirmed that Arizona and Eliza’s break up will be addressed in a very interesting way. She stated, “It’s going to be addressed. It’s very interesting how we address it.” Unfortunately, she didn’t mention any specific details of how they will address it. So, for now, we’re just going to have to wait around to find all that out.

Additionally, they also talked about the possibility of having Arizona’s old flame Callie Torres (played by Sara Ramirez) make a return to the show at some point. Debbie Allen confirmed that there aren’t currently any plans to have her back stating, “There are no plans at the moment. We love her and we miss her, but there’s been no discussion of it.”

The last time Callie appeared on the show was way back in the season 12 finale episode when she made the big announcement that she was relocating to New York. Sara released a statement that addressed her leaving the show. It said, “I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey’s Anatomy and ABC, but for now, I’m taking some welcome time off. Shonda Rhimes has been so incredible to work for and we will definitely continue our conversations.”

In related news, Jessica Capshaw has revealed that season 14 will have some lighter moments and sort of resemble seasons 1 and 2. The 14th season will pick up where the season 13 finale episode left off with the big explosion and everything.

At some point in the season, we’ll see the return of Dr. Teddy Altman who is played by actress Kim Raver. Jo’s violent ex husband Dr. Paul Stadler is scheduled to show back up at some point. Currently, there are no details what either of these two characters will be doing. It seems like the Paul Stadler storyline could definitely be extremely interesting though.

They’ve recast Owen’s sister. So, she’ll have a different look when we see her this season. Maggie and Jackson might start up a romance. Maggie will be trying to figure out if what April told her was true. From there, the cast doesn’t know what will happen. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Andrew Deluca’s sister Dr. Carina DeLuca will be arriving and she’s going to stir some things up. With who, we don’t know. What we do know is that she’ll have a unique profession and will make some of the other doctors uncomfortable.

So, that sounds pretty interesting to say the least. The premiere is currently scheduled to debut with a huge two-hour episode on Thursday night, September 28,2017 at 7 pm central standard time on ABC. Stay tuned.
