New Shameless Season 10 Is Officially Happening. New Spoilers Are On The Way
Hey, Shameless fans. We’ve got some great news for you guys today. It turns out that your favorite show is definitely going to be back in action for a brand new season 10 despite the fact that the leading lady Emmy Rossum aka Fiona Gallagher is leaving.
According to the folks over at TV Line, the big announcement was made way back in January 2019 when season 9 had made it to only the midway point. Showtime didn’t wait around for the season to end to make its decision.
The big renewal announcement took place at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. They also mentioned that actor Cameron Monaghan aka Ian Gallagher has decided to return for the new season 10.
It’s also been confirmed the season regulars that will be returning are: William H. Macy aka Frank Gallagher, Jeremy Allen White aka Lip Gallagher, Ethan Cutkosky aka Carl Gallagher, Emma Kenney aka Debbie Gallagher and Christian Isaiah aka Liam Gallagher.
The renewal announcement was made by Showtime’s President Of Entertainment Gary Levine. He had wonderful things to say about Shameless during his statement. He said, “The Gallaghers are a force of nature, and they are coming back. SHAMELESS, with its ever-growing fan base, is like no other show on television. We are thrilled it will live on with its unique blend of love and larceny on SHOWTIME.”
Shameless’ executive producer John Wells also had a few positive words to say. He stated, “All of us on SHAMELESS are delighted that we get to tell more wonderful Gallagher stories and thankful to SHOWTIME for their continued support. We can’t wait to get back to work with this extraordinary cast.”
Taking a look at the ratings and viewership numbers for season 9, it appeared to hold steady at about a million or so viewers per episode. However, it had pretty huge dips during the midseason. The season 9 premiere opened up to 1.307 million viewers and a 0.47 rating score for the 18-49 year old demographics. The most recent episode that aired on March 3, 2019, brought in 1.129 million viewers and a ratings score of 0.41.
The show saw its lowest viewership with the episode that aired on January 20, 2019. It drew in only 0.798 or 700,000 to 800,000 viewers. The lowest rated episode was the one that aired on February 24, 2019. It scored only a 0.24 score for the 18-49 demographic.
Another important thing to make note of is that season 10 is currently scheduled to only have 10 episodes. We don’t know how solid that is though. That number could change. But for now, that’s what it is.
How do you guys feel about the new season 10 renewal, and it possibly only having 10 episodes? Let us know in the comments.
