‘So You Think You Can Dance’ August 26, 2019 Eliminated Benjamin & Anna (Recap)

Hey, “So You Think You Can Dance” fans. Tonight, August 26, 2019, another LIVE performance and elimination episode did indeed air, and another two unlucky dancers were sent packing at the end of it.

The judges: The judges: Laurieann Gibson, Dominic “D-Trix” Sandoval, Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe were on hand to give their critiques.

Tonight’s LIVE show kicked off with the remaining 8 dancers doing a group number that was choreographed by Jonathan and Oksana. Right after that, Benjamin Castro and Anna Linstruth hit the stage to perform a Tahitian routine that was choreographed by Tiana Liufau.

Afterwards, Nigel said, “I love diversity of dance. I feel spoiled by Tahitian dances from the past. I didn’t feel you got into character enough.” Mary said, “The hips and knees were moving incredibly fast.” She gave Anna some technical critiques, and she gave Bejamin a lot of praise.

Dominic said, “Anna’s hips told me a great story. I feel Benjamin did well too.” Laurieann said,”You have to push past the pain. Benjamin connected, but I feel Anna lacked stamina.”

Next, Sophie Pittman cranked out a solo performance. There were no judge’s critiques for the solos.

Ezra Sosa and Madison Jordan arrived on stage next to perform a hip hop routine from choreographers Randi and Hef. Afterwards, Mary said, “Towards the end, you got into it. I wasn’t feeling some of it though.”

Dominic said, “Madison is an amazing hip-hop dancer. I didn’t get that from Ezra.” Laurieann said, “It was amazing. The intent was met.” Nigel said, “In general, you performed it brilliantly.”

Next, Gino Cosculluela hit the stage to do his solo routine. After that, Bailey Munoz and Mariah Russell hit the stage to do a Cha,Cha,Cha routine choreographed by Dmitry Chaplin.

Afterwards,Dominic said, “Bailey was struggling on the lifts. I found it adorable though. Mariah is a star.” Laurieann said, “I love Dmitry’s choreography. I’m looking at dancers, not a B-boy and contemporary girl.”

Nigel said,”What Bailey has achieved is remarkable, but he looked uncomfortable here. The audience loves him to death though. Mariah is a star.” Mary said, “I loved every second of it, but some things were exposed for Bailey. By the time it ended, it was tight and better.”

Next, Madison Jordan performed a solo routine to “Cellophane” by FKA Twigs. Right after that, Ezra Sosa jumped on stage to do his solo. It was a ballroom routine. He danced to “Conga” by Gloria Estefan.

Gino Cosculluela & Sophie Pittman arrived on stage next to do a Contemporary routine from choreographer KC Monnie.

Afterwards, Laurieann said, “The pairing is magical, and I loved the message of the piece.” Nigel said, “The chemistry is magnificent.” Mary said, “The piece is memorable.” Dominic said, “Thanks for the performance. Well done.”

Next, Mariah Russell did a solo routine to “Somebody” by Emeli Sande. After that,Benjamin Castro and Anna Linstruth performed a Broadway routine by choreographer Al Blackstone.

Afterwards, Nigel said, “I love how magical and romantic it was. I hope America will vote for something gentle as this.” Mary said, “You played it just right. I was transported to another era.” Dominic said, “It would be a full out Broadway routine. I loved the quality of movement.” Laurieann said, “America will vote because they feel it. It was amazing.”

Ezra Sosa and Madison Jordan were up next with a Argentine Tango routine from choreographer Miriam & Leonardo.

Afterwards, Mary said, “The routine was incredibly difficult. You did it beautifully. I love Madison’s legs and feet. Ezra is the perfect partner.” Dominic said, “Ezra did a great job.” Laurieann said, “It was intense as it was so cinematic.” Nigel said, “I loved Madison’s strength, and Ezra was a great partner. Well done.”

Benjamin Castro hit the stage next to crank out a contemporary solo to the song “Run Boy Run.” Anna Linstruth followed right behind him with a solo of her own.

Next, Bailey Munoz and Madison Russell did a Contemporary routine by choreographers Mandy and Elizabeth.

Afterwards,Dominic said, “That was one of my favorite routines I have ever seen.” Laurieann said, “Bailey is a nice young man. I love his upbringing. I want him to stay confident and humble. I don’t want Mariah to suppress her ability due to Bailey.”

Nigel said, “Props can sometimes overwhelm, but not tonight. You are the couple to beat.” Mary said, “I want you to be a pair for the rest of your lives. I loved every second of it.”

Gino Cosculluela and Sophie Pittman rocked out a Jazz routine from choreographer Jonathan Redavid.

Afterwards, Laurieann said, “It was amazing. Gino and Sophie are the couple to beat.” Nigel said, “Bailey and Mariah now have some great opponents.” Mary said, “Yes, Train. Hot tamale! You’re a threat.” Dominic said, “You have had your best performances tonight.”

Bailey Munoz hit the stage next to do a solo performance. Shortly after that,Madison, Mariah, Benjamin and Gino performed a group routine by choreographer Talia Favia.

Afterwards, Nigel said, “Talia was brilliant in the creativity. Tonight’s selection is going to be tough.” Mary said, “It was powerful, strong, tough, and I felt it in my gut.” Dominic joked, “I’m mezmerized by the abs. ” Laurieann said, “I’m blown away because I would hire all four dancers.”

Next, they revealed that Gino and Mariah are safe this week, and Benjamin and Madison are in jeopardy.

After that, Anna, Sophie, Bailey and Ezra performed a group routine by choreographer Sean Cheeseman.

Afterwards, Mary said, “All the dancers experienced a rebirth tonight just like the song. You all were brilliant ,and I loved Bailey’s jump and land.” Dominic said, “I want everyone to know how hard physically and psychologically the competition is for all of them.”

Laurieann said, “Welcome to the real world. I feel it all.” Nigel said, “You had a freedom of movement. Bailey, your solo was outstanding.”

Next, they revealed that both Bailey and Sophie are safe this week, and Ezra and Anna are in jeopardy.

That left: Ezra, Anna,Benjamin and Madison as the bottom 4 tonight. Nigel told them, “You haven’t related to America for some reason. You need to figure out how to appeal to voters because we love you all.

After some deliberation, the judges came up with a unanimous decision to save Ezra and Madison. That meant poor Benjamin Castro and Anna Linstruth took the elimination hit tonight.
