American Idol May 16, 2021 Eliminated Casey Bishop (Recap)
Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, May 16, 2021, another LIVE results/performances episode did hit the airwaves, and another unlucky contestant got sent packing at the end of it all. All the judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were indeed on hand to do their jobs of critiquing and what not.
Tonight’s LIVE episode kicked off with host Ryan Seacrest revealing that Caleb Kennedy was disqualified from the competition.
Next, Chayce Beckham hit the stage to sing, “Cold Weather” by Zac Brown Band. Afterwards, Katy said, “I’m glad you decided to play guitar on the song. Your guitar is your ammunition.” Luke said, “People love artists who are genuine, and that’s why you got this far.” Lionel said, “People like you.”
Next up, Casey Bishop hit the stage to sing, “Wish U Were Gay” by Billie Eilish. Afterwards, Luke said, “You just crushed every aspect of that whole thing. That was your best performance.” Lionel said, “You now own your persona. You killed it.” Katy said, “You found your stardust ,and you’re rolling around in it. You are going to be your next hero, honey.”
After that, season 17 winner Laine Hardy joined Ryan Seacrest on stage to promote his new single “Memorize This.” Shortly after that, Grace Kinstler performed, “A Moment Like This” by the very first American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson.
Afterwards, Katy said, “Cool song choice.” Luke said, “I like how you conduct yourself with confidence.”
Willie Spence arrived on stage ,next, to sing, “Glory” by John Legend. Afterwards, Katy said, “I’m so glad you took us to church. It’s in God’s hands now! I don’t want to choose.” Luke said, “You’re literally going to save people’s lives with your voice.”
From there, Chayce Beckham sang his next song of the night, which was “23”. It was an original song. Afterwards, Lionel said, “Who have you turned into? You have made a complete transformation.” Katy said, “You’re are a rockstar.”
Casey Bishop was up next. She sang, “Love Me Leave Me,” which was an Original Song. Then she sang “Livewire” by Motley Crue.
Afterwards, Lionel said, “What was that? You can be so whimsical. Then in the middle, you drop the bomb. I loved it. I want front row seats and backstage passes.” Katy said, “My favorite song ,right now, is “Love Me, Leave Me. I love your versatility. You checked all the boxes.” Luke said, “You’re ready for all the legendary rock and roll venues.”
Next, the contestants performed some duo numbers. Grace Kinstler and Willie Spence sang, “What They’ll Say About Us” by Finneas.
After that, Luke Bryan sang his latest single, “Waves.” Next, Grace Kinstler sang, “Love Someone,” which was an original song. She also sang, “Father” by Demi Lovato.
Afterwards, Luke said,”The Demi song was made for you to sing. All of our birds are about to leave the nest.” Lionel said, “You’ve taken every bit of instruction. You came here being you. We just gave you your platform.” Katy said, “I felt you. I felt that.”
Willie Spence hit the stage ,next, to deliver an original song called, “Never Be Alone” and “I Was Here” by Beyonce.
Afterwards, Lionel said, “What have we done? I want to see this tour. You are a giant of a voice and presence.” Katie said, “You brought the chills back. You have that connection to that next realm. You are stepping into your power and walking into the light.” Luke said, “You flip into beast mode.”
For the final performance of the night, Chayce Beckham and Casey Bishop hit the stage to sing, “Break My Heart Again.”
Finally, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that Chayce Beckham, Willie Spence and Grace Kinstler got the most votes. So, they are your top three contestants that will compete in next week’s finale episode. That sadly means that poor Casey Bishop got eliminated tonight.
