American Idol May 14, 2023 Eliminated Wé Ani & Zachariah Smith. Top 3 Revealed (Recap)

Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, May 14, 2023, another new, LIVE, performances/results episode for American Idol’s current season 21 did indeed hit the air, and another two unlucky contestants had to end their journey, leaving us with a top final 3 contestants reveal.

All the season regular judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were back on hand for tonight’s new episode. Katy Perry and Lionel Richie were out of the country last week, but they’re back now. The theme for tonight’s performances show was Disney Night. So, all the final 5 contestants sang two songs from the Disney catalog of songs.

Tonight’s episode kicked off with singer/songwriter and actress Sara Bareilles showing up to do a special performance. She sang a rendition of the song titled,”When You Wish Upon a Star.” The final 5 contestants joined her to finish it off.

Wé Ani kicked off tonight’s performances by singing, “Into the Unknown” song from Disney’s Frozen II movie. Afterwards, Lionel said, “What a way to start. You’re a star. You did a fantastic job.” Katy said, “That was incredible. It was like you were karate chopping. You were a superhero of vocals.” Luke said, “I don’t think you’ve hit a bad note all year. You’re a superstar.”

Zachariah Smith sang, “Just Can’t Wait to be King” song from the Lion King movie. Afterwards, Katy said, “You actually may become King. You were such the underdog. That was incredible.” Luke said, “Just your comfort level. It all works. That’s entertainment at a high high level.” Lionel said, “That arrangement alone. That was tough. You were right in the driver’s seat. You are on fire my friend.”

Colin Stough sang, “Real Gone” song from Cars movie. Afterwards, Luke said, “Great song choice. That was my favorite performance you’ve done.” Lionel said, “The comfort zone was perfect. Your confidence was sitting right there.” Katy said, “You came out looking like an electric guitar. You took that risk. Keep doing it.”

Megan Danielle sang, “You Can’t Stop the Girl” song from Maleficent: Mistress of Evil movie. Afterwards, Lionel said, “That was a stellar performance. Your voice has gone to another level.” Katy said, “This is the most you’ve ever stretched your vocals. You were giving us vox. Your confidence was on another level.” Luke said, “You are a vocalist. You got into the Top 26 by winning a sing-off, and look how far you’ve come.”

Iam Tongi sang, “Lava” song from Lava movie. Afterwards, Katy said, “You know exactly who you are. You’re a superstar.” Luke said, “You’re authentic. People just gravitate. You make a room light up.” Lionel said, “I consider you a master storyteller. Your dreams have come true.”

Wé Ani started up the second round of songs of the night by singing, “The Climb” song from Hannah Montana. Afterwards, Luke said, “You delivered it perfectly. That was a great song choice. Elegant delivery.” Lionel said, “I’m in love with you. What really make the difference. You make any song you sing. You feel it.” Katy said, “Look how high you are. Those dynamics you played with. You are a master of your craft.”

At this point, singer/songwriter and actress Halle Bailey hit the stage to sing, “Part of Your World” song From the Little Mermaid movie.

Next, Zachariah Smith sang, “Life is a Highway” song from Cars movie. Afterwards, Lionel said, “Is that Michael Zachariah? You are the entertainer’s entertainer.” Katy said, “It was just brilliant.” Luke said, “You guys are putting on concerts. You’ve got the look. Great job.”

Colin Stough sang, “Nobody Knows” song from Pete’s Dragon movie. Afterwards, Katy said, “You drew us in so much. You controlled it so well. You are showing us so many different things.” Luke said, “It is really hard to step out here with a guitar and hold the room. You really do an amazing job.” Lionel said, “You walk out on stage and you step into your light.”

Megan Danielle sang, “Carried Me With You” song from Onward. Afterwards, Luke said, “That was so effortless. So natural. You’ve got the magic tone and magic delivery. I love your voice. It tells your story.” Lionel said, “You have a cry that’s so believable.” Katy said, “There is a light that you’ve switched. It’s a beautiful angelic place every time you sing.”

To conclude tonight’s performances, Iam Tongi sang, “Father and Son” song from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 movie. Afterwards, Lionel said, “This is magical for you. All the stars align. It’s really happening.” Katy said, “It’s written in the stars. When I see your name, I see ‘I am the next American Idol’.” Luke said, “Mama, thank you for signing this boy up.”

After all of that, host Ryan Seacrest revealed that everyone was through to the finals except for poor Wé Ani and Zachariah Smith. They were sadly eliminated. That means your top, final 3 contestants for American Idol’s current season 21 are: Colin Stough, Megan Danielle and Iam Tongi. How do you guys feel about that? Let us know in the comments section.
