American Idol May 1, 2022 Eliminated Emyrson Flora, Mike Parker & Lady K (Recap)
Hey, “American Idol” fans. Tonight, May 1, 2022, another new, LIVE, performance/results episode for American Idol’s current season 20 did indeed air, and we found out who made it to the top 7 when it was all done and over with.
The judges: Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan were, of course, on hand, once again, to give us their usual comments and critiques. The theme for tonight’s performances was Disney movie songs. All the contestants performed popular songs from various Disney films.
It was revealed that ABC’s Dancing With The Stars judge/pro dancer Derek Hough mentored the contestants with their song choices this week.
Lady K kicked off tonight’s performances by singing, “How Far I’ll Go” from the movie Moana. Afterwards, Lionel said, “I like how you’ve grown. You look and act like a star.” Katy said, “You remind me of Vanessa Williams. That was a stunning vocal.” Luke said, “I’m so happy we saved you last week.”
Noah Thompson performed, “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from the movie Toy Story. Afterwards, Katy said, “That was my favorite performance from you. You reinvented that. That was some of your best vocals.” Luke said, “I liked your vocal choices. There’s tons of promise in the future for you.” Lionel said, “That was the perfect song choice for you, and I loved the attitude you brought to the performance.”
Emyrson Flora sang, “Carried Me with You” from the movie Onward. Afterwards, Luke said, “I loved your little bounce thing. You’re having fun! Lionel said, “That kind of stage presence comes with experience. Enjoy this ride.” Katy said, “You’ve come so far. Your voice sounds spectacular.”
HunterGirl performed,”I See the Light” from the movie Tangled. Afterwards, Lionel said, “That’s your whole career right there.” Katy said, “The magic is real. You have never sounded better. You pushed that vocal. This is your Cinderella moment.” Luke said, “You are a country girl that can express beauty and elegance. I can imagine you on an Awards shows.”
Jay Copeland sang, “Remember Me” from the movie Coco. Afterwards, Katy said, “I loved the way you used the stage. You are just controlling.” Luke said, “Your performance and choices are classic and timeless.” Lionel said, “You solidified your star status. That was levels you showed us tonight.”
Leah Marlene performed “When She Loved Me” from the movie Toy Story 2. Afterwards, Luke said, “You’re a great and amazing singer. You always tell the story perfectly.” Lionel said, “You knocked it out of the park.” Katy said, “Your growth is beautiful. I’m so proud of you.”
Nicolina Bozzo sang, “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid movie. Afterwards, Lionel said, “This is the best Disney night ever.” Katy said, “You stole the show. That’s how you do show business. It was the best performance of the night.” Luke said, “Great job. The song came alive when you went all in on the character towards the end.”
Mike Parker sang, “You’ll Be In My Heart” from the movie Tarzan. Afterwards, Katy said, “There was a big key change. We could feel every moment of that.” Luke said, “You navigated that amazingly.” Lionel said, “You’re a superstar.”
Christian Guardino performed, “Circle of Life” from The Lion King movie. Afterwards, Luke said, “You nailed it. You sang it perfectly.” Lionel said, “You were standing totally in your light, shining bright.” Katy said, “That was your best performance yet. You had confidence.”
To close out tonight’s performances, Fritz Hager hit the stage to sing, “Go the Distance” from the movie Hercules. Afterwards, Lionel said, “You’re the show’s surprise package.” Katy said, “America must vote now. Whatever happens, you got exactly what you came for.” Luke said, “You always just nail it. You understand the dynamics. You aren’t surprising me anymore. You deserve to be here.”
After all of that, host Ryan Seacrest hit the stage to reveal the results. Leah Marlene, Jay Copeland, Noah Thompson, Fritz Hager, HunterGirl, Nicolina Bozzo and Christian Guardino were all revealed to be safe ,tonight, and through to the final 7!
That unfortunately meant that poor: Emyrson Flora, Mike Parker and Lady K were eliminated tonight. How do you guys feel about that? Let us know in the comments section.
