Tough As Nails July 7, 2023 Eliminated Yesi Reyes From Individual Competitions (Recap)

Hey, “Tough As Nails” fans. Tonight, July 7, 2023, another new episode of Tough As Nails season 5 did indeed hit the air, and another unlucky contestant got eliminated from the individual competitions at the end of it, losing their shot to win $200,000 dollars, a new Ford truck and Tough As Nails Champion bragging rights.

Tonight’s episode kicked off with host Phil Keoghan showing up with a new team challenge for the contestants. In this one, they had to build a steel trailer, dip it in zinc and connect it to a truck for the win. Yesi was selected to be crew boss for Dirty Hands during this challenge, and Paul was crew boss for the Savage Crew team.

During this challenge, the teams had to weld three sides onto their trailer. Carolina ran into some issues for the Savage Crew team with this part of the challenge. So, Dirty Hands took an early lead going into the zinc dipping portion of this challenge.

After the zinc bath, they had to assemble the rest of their trailer. Dirty Hands started running into some issues at this stage, allowing the Savage Crew team to catch up to them. Then, at the very end, the Dirty Hands crew made one mistake too many by not being able to get their tailgate to fully latch on and close. So, the Savage Crew team was able to make a huge comeback and win this challenge to go up 2-1 in team competitions. They also won $12,000 dollars for this challenge.

Over at the Savage Crew camp, Jessica had a complaint for Paul. Apparently, she didn’t like him yelling at her to stop talking and keep working during the challenge. She told him that it was disrespectful to her, and she won’t take that. Paul apologized for it, and she accepted the apology. Later, Jessica apologized to Paul for calling him out like that in front of everyone. She said, “I was a little heated at the time.” He said, “Don’t worry about it. I didn’t take it personally.”

Next, Phil returned to give the contestants their new, individual challenge. In this one, the contestants had to build a metal structure that was strong enough to withstand 2,316 pounds for 10 seconds. They were given 90 minutes to complete this task. The first contestant to complete this task, won $3,000 dollars.

Paul ended up finishing it first for the win and the $3,000 dollars. Dustin came in second. Actually, Paul and Dustin were the only ones that were able to make a structure strong enough to withstand the weight by the time the 90 minutes were up. So, Yesi and Jessica had to go into the Overtime challenge because their structures collapsed the fastest.

In the overtime challenge, Yesi and Jessica had to build a metal eagle statue that was exactly the same as a demo model they were given. The first one to do it, won. Yesi ran into issues with putting the wings on backwards. So, she had to correct that, which ate into her time.

Jessica also ran into some issues with the tail being wrong. At the end, it was Jessica who got it together the quickest. So, she won this Overtime challenhge, and poor Yesi Reyes got eliminated from the individual competitions.

Yesi told the private cams, “I’m a little emotional because I had a vision of being Tough As Nails champ, but that’s not how it played out. I’m still proud of myself, and I will keep going in the team competitions. How do you guys feel about Yesi Reyes getting eliminated from the individual competitions in this episode?
