Sportscaster, George Michael Dies At Age 70 Due To Cancer

Sportscaster, George Michael dies at age 70 due to cancer. According to the Los Angeles Times, longtime sportscaster, George Michael died early this morning after a long two-year battle with cancer. He was 70 years old,and was most noted for his nationally syndicated TV program entitled, ” The George Michael Sports Machine.” It was a syndicated TV show that ran nationwide for 27 years. He was on TV for more than 25 years in Washington,and he was a sports anchor on NBC’s channel 4.

His producer, Matt Glassman said he was a pioneer. He stated, “George was a pioneer in sports broadcasting.He was a gifted interviewer, a master storyteller, and one of the hardest working journalists out there.”

George Michael retired from broadcasting in 2007,and began his career in 1980. He always had a confident and boisterous style while on the air. You can watch a brief clip of some of his work from the “George Michael Sports Machine” TV show in the clip,below.
