New 300,Rise Of An Empire movie delivered great action, drama, gore & more. Paramount Pictures released their new action/drama flick, “300: Rise Of An Empire” into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was pretty entertaining, mostly because of the hardcore, highly graphic violence and action that it served up. However, the dialogue and overall plotline was just ok for me. It stars: Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey, Hans Matheson, David Wenham, Rodrigo Santoro, Igal Naor, Callan Mulvey, Jack O’Connell, and Andrew Tiernan.
In the new flick, Darius’ son, Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), witnesses his father’s death, and is advised, not to continue the war, since “only the gods could defeat the Greeks. Darius’ naval commander, Artemisia (Eva Green), claims that Darius’ last words where in fact a challenge and sends Xerxes on a journey through the desert. Eventually, Xerxes reaches a cave and bathes in an otherworldly liquid, emerging as the “God-King,” and returns to Persia to declare war on Greece.
This prompts Themistocles (Sullivan Stapleton) to meet with the council and convince them to provide him with a fleet to engage the Persians at sea. Themistocles eventually reunites with his old friend Scyllas (Callan Mulvey), who infiltrated the Persian troops and found out that Artemisia was actually born Greek, but defected to Persia after Greek soldiers killed her parents and raped her when she was a child. She earned her place as a naval commander by brutally killing several of Darius’ enemies.
During a huge battle at sea, Themistocles impresses Artemisia with his battle skills after sinking one of her Persian ships, and has him brought onto her ship, where they have like really rough sex. It was crazy. She also offers him a place in her army, but he refuses, causing her to swear revenge and has him tossed of her ship.
From there, Artemisia and the Persians totally bum-rush the Greek ships with flaming arrows and torches, which ignited the tar, causing ships from both sides to explode. This took out most Themistocles’ men. As the film neared its conclusion, Themistocles found out that Xerxes had plans to attack Athens. This set up a huge, dramatic conclusion that featured Themistocles and Artemisia, going toe to toe in an all-out final battle that left Artemisia on the bad end of the stick, literally, and more.
Again , I thought the movie was extremely entertaining, mostly due to the very graphic and ruthless violence that took place. I swear, most of the time, I just saw blood flying across the scene as constant killing took place by way of a sharp sword, slashing the hell out of people.
And actress, Eva Green aka Artemisia, delivered a very convincing and intense performance as her character was very ruthless and pretty sexy too in that intense violent, scratching sort of way, lol!!! I gave the movie a solid B grade. Stay tuned. Also, get your favorite Movie stuff, and more by Clicking Here.
