New ‘Riverdale’ Season 3 Storyline Teasers Revealed By The Cast And Producer

Hey, “Riverdale” fans. We’re back at you with another new report. This time, we’re going to share with you what we’ve learned so far about what’s in store for the upcoming season 3! As most of you are aware, the season 2 finale episode aired last Wednesday night, May 16, 2018, and featured a pretty startling ending with the crooked Hiram Lodge getting Archie arrested on freaking murder charges! Oh no!

To play devil’s advocate, Archie shouldn’t have been stupid enough to confront Hiram like he did. He should’ve known there would be some heavy repercussions for that after working for him and seeing how he operates. But anyways, let’s get into these new season 3 scoops shall we? Of course we shall.

According to the folks over at TV Guide, we’re going to see characters Toni Topaz played by Vanessa Morgan and Reggie Mantle played by Charles Melton get more screentime as they’ve both been bumped up to season regulars. Season 2 left off with Cheryl and Toni as a couple and Reggie and Josie as a couple. So, expect to see more of that in season 3.

Next, TV Guide talked about the Archie situation with his portrayer KJ Apa. There were no official spoilers given about Archie, but KJ did tell them what he would like to see happen with his character. He stated, “I’d love to see Archie put an end to the Black Hood storyline whatever that means. Whether it’s killing the Black Hood or whatever it is to resolve that situation. I’m anticipating him to hopefully be in prison with Betty’s dad which could be cool.”

He also went on to assure fans that he thinks Archie and Veronica will be able to survive this latest hardship. He stated, “They’ve been faced with so many hard times and every time they’ve been able to get through it. I think they are rock solid.”

The next teaser is in reference to Betty and Cheryl joining the Serpents gang. Even though it might seem like they were officially in to cap off season 2, they’re apparently going to still have to get initiated. And Jughead portrayer Cole Sprouse told TV Guide that it’s not going to be an easy initiation just because they’re girls. He stated, “I don’t think it’s going to be an easy initiation. I don’t think that Jughead is the kind of leader that will be like, ‘Because you’re my girlfriend, come on in!'”

The last thing that TV Guide left off with for the first initial season 3 spoiler teasers is that nothing official has really been revealed for what the season 3 theme will be. Apparently, the executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said he didn’t want to reveal it yet. However, he did provide a very small tease. He said it will still fit that “pulp fiction” vibe and will be different from what the show has done before.

We were also able to find some more season 3 teasers from the folks over at Deadline.com. They got to do an extensive interview with showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Roberto must like Deadline much more because they were able to get a whole lot more out him than TV Guide.

Roberto revealed that season 3 will feel like people are getting killed all the time! He stated, “In Season 3 there’s going to be kind of a new genre as well, and we’re going to examine different kinds of pulp and noir. So, if it feels like Riverdale is a place where people are getting killed all the time, maybe we find out that that’s not a coincidence. Maybe in Season 3, that’s actually part of a bigger pattern and a bigger unspoken history of Riverdale.”

Season 3 will feature a crazy heightened storyline, plot twists and more. Roberto stated, “Look, in Season 3 we are going to have the gonzo, crazy, heightened story and plot twists and turns that people appreciate about Riverdale, sure. But, I’ll tell you we’re also really going to keep our eye on the prize which is the friendships and the romances.”

Season 3 will feature characters Cheryl, Toni, Kevin and Josie getting even more involved in the storylines. The focus will also shift to a Riverdale that’s been taken over by Hiram Lodge and more. It’ll have more of a Sin City type of vibe to it.

Roberto explained, “First of all, we are keeping our group together as much as possible, even though potentially Archie is going to go to the slammer for a bit.

But also, if the idea is that Hiram Lodge has taken possession of Riverdale and then Riverdale has become something like Sin City. So, like the movie and the comic book that Frank Miller wrote that were comprised of short stories that kind of came together to tell one big story about Sin City.

So, one idea is that we might shift the focus around on different characters, some of our supporting players as well to kind of tell a tapestry of what life is like when Riverdale is on the verge of becoming Sin City. So, keep an eye out on the supporting players like Cheryl and Tony and Kevin and Josie. They’re going to carry more story than they have in Season 1 and Season 2.”

Next, Roberto teased that we might see some other new characters get added to the mix. Some possible names he ran off are FP’s wife Gladys Jones and Jughead’s sister Jellybean Jones. He stated, “As for new characters, I think it was really great to add Hiram Lodge to the mix in Season 2. He really shook up the Lodge family and that crime franchise. So, characters we’ve been teasing since Season 1 are Gladys Jones, FP’s wife and Jughead’s mom, and Jellybean Jones, who’s Jughead’s sister. I wouldn’t be surprised if they came to Riverdale bringing bad tidings for Jughead and Betty and FP and Alice.”

We could also very possibly see more appearances from actress Molly Ringwald who plays Archie’s mother Mary Andrews. Roberto told them,”There’s an open-door policy for Molly. Any time Molly wants to come to Riverdale, she can come to Riverdale if we can work out the schedule with all of her other commitments and stuff. She’s always welcome. And one imagines that she’ll be back to help Archie if he’s facing a trial or facing a sentencing because he’s been accused of murder.”

Alright guys. That’s all of the season 3 spoiler teasers we’ve got for you right now, but definitely stay tuned for more as this summer rolls along. Season 3 is scheduled to keep its Wednesday night time slot when it starts back up.

We’re still waiting to get an official premiere date for season 3. That important info will probably get revealed in either late June 2018 or early July 2018. Stay tuned. Also, be sure to follow us on our Riverdale Facebook page for more Riverdale news by Clicking Here.
