Tough As Nails July 23, 2023 Eliminated Akeela Al-Hameed From Individual Comps (Recap)

Hey, “Tough As Nails” fans. Tonight, July 23, 2023, another new episode of Tough As Nails’ current season 5 did indeed hit the air, and another unlucky contestant lost their individual shot at taking home the grand prize of $200,000 dollars and a new Ford pick up truck.

Tonight’s new episode kicked off with the Dirty Hands and Savage Crew teams getting presented a new team challenge. In this one, they had to build two sides of a playground. Akeela was crew boss for the Savage Crew team, and Cheryl was crew boss again for Dirty Hands team.

During this comp, they had to install a log press, assemble a zipline, log crossing and log climb. The Savage Crew team ran into an issue with the log crossing structure at one point. The Dirty Hands team had problems with it too.

The Savage Crew team ran into another snag involving a missing shackle, but Akeela stepped in to do some improvising with it. Unfortunately, for the Savage Crew team, their mistakes proved to be too great as the Dirty Hands team was able to complete the playground before them for their 5th team win of this season, bringing the team competitions score to 5-3.

Since the Dirty Hands team hit 5 wins first, they got the bonus $60,000 dollars along with $12,000 dollars for this challenge. There is one more team competition left for this season. So, there will be another shot to grab an additional $12,000 dollars for the teams this season.

Next, the contestants were given their new individual competition. In this one, they had to correctly build three bicycles for some kids. The winner got an $8,000 dollar prize.

During this challenge, they had to run to get their bicycle parts. Then, run back to put them up on a stand and start building the bike. Once they finished that, they had to run the bike back to get a quality check. If they got a bad quality check, they had to run the bike back to the stand and fix it, which ate away at precious time.

Ben ran into quality check issues with the tire pressure. Akeela had quality check issues with the handle bars on one of her bikes. Jessica ran into quality check issues with the pedals on her second bike, but she finally figured it out. Todd had a major issue when pumping one of the tires. He popped the innertube, essentially eliminating him since they had no replacement innertubes. He did try to figure out an alternate way to fix it so he could stay in this competition, but he just couldn’t get it done.

Kenji finished first for the win and the $8,000 dollar prize. Jessica took 2nd place. Dustin came in 3rd place. Ben claimed the very important 4th spot to just narrowly avoid having to do the Overtime challenge. Akeela and Todd were the last two. So, they had to compete in the Overtime challenge for a shot to stay alive in the individual competitions.

In the Overtime challenge, Akeela and Todd raced to install two metal eagles on a pole. During this challenge, Akeela ran into issues with the final bolts, and that was the only mistake Todd needed to edge her out for the win. So, Akeela got eliminated from the individual competitions, but she’ll be sticking around for the team competitions.

Akeela told the private cams, “I’ve learned a lot of personal things about myself. I’m taking a bunch of lessons from this place.” How do you guys feel about Akeela Al-Hameed getting eliminated from the individual competitions in this episode? Let us know in the comments section.
